Vehicular accident claims life of cricket enthusiast

Gifford-WalshA vehicular accident in Macoucherie on Saturday evening has claimed the life of Gifford Walsh, a resident of Stock Farm.

A report from the police public relations officer, inspector John Carbon indicates that the accident occurred about 9:30PM on Saturday, July 19.

“Gifford was driving vehicle registration number PF465 in a southerly direction on the Macoucherie Public road when his vehicle collided with vehicle registration number PH479 which was travelling in the opposite direction and was being driven by Steve Martin of Bath Estate,” the report indicates.

“After the impact, Walsh lost control and the vehicle overturned. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical officer”.

A coroner’s inquest has convened and a post mortem will follow as investigations continue.
