Anton Yelchin, known for his roles in “Star Trek” and “Like Crazy,” has died. He was 27.

With great sadness, we report the death of Anton Yelchin, 27, who was killed in a freak accident at his home in Los Angeles.

Yelchin was found dead early Sunday morning after he was pinned by his car. The accident occurred when Yelchin’s car rolled down the driveway and pinned him against a security fence.

Yelchin’s death is a huge loss for the entertainment industry and Star Trek fans. Yelchin was a rising star who had already accomplished much in his short career. He will be deeply missed.

Yelchin’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the news to The Associated Press on Sunday.

The actor was killed Sunday morning after a freak accident involving his car, according to TMZ. Friends found Yelchin pinned between his car and a brick mailbox at his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 a.m., TMZ reported.

Law enforcement told TMZ that the car’s engine was running when Yelchin’s body was found, and the car was in neutral. The police do not suspect any foul play.
