murielsiebertfd-mediumMuriel Siebert, 80, was the first woman to own a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. She began her financial career in 1967 with the founding of Muriel Siebert & Co. Inc. She was elected to the NYSE in December, 1967, after months of battling against unfair conditions set by members who were opposed to her joining the stock exchange. She was also an outspoken advocate for women getting involved in business, and often cited women executives as being a competitive edge for American businesses.
