Film production can be a dangerous business. As we discussed in our video about 9 Incredibly Hard To Shoot Movie Scenes , getting the perfect action shot can sometimes mean pulling off very risky stunts that have the potential to go disastrously wrong. Fortunately most productions will have plenty of precautions and safeguards in place, which means that on-set deaths are very rare, but there are still some famous cases of actors who died while filming, and others who died before they could finish their current projects.

Here are Screen Rant's 10 Actors Who Died During A Movie’s Production.

  1. 4:33 is that penny from the big bang theory (the one on the left)

  2. I watched the Glass House with Vic Morrow, Alan Alda, and Club Galager.

    1. Neither did Paul Walker, but Bruce was still in mid production filming
      scenes for Game of Death.

  3. I miss paul…. I remember I cried alot when I found out he died in 2013…
but can’t believe that was 3 years ago

    1. yes, River Phoenix was a great actor, died during production of Dark Blood,
but I believe Chris Farley wasn’t in any production at the moment of his
      death

    2. +Aleksandra Boskova A lot of people don’t know this but Chris Farley died
while Shrek was in pre production. in fact they released a voice over
storyboard on YouTube. “Chris Farley as shrek lost footage found” Maybe it
still doesn’t count but its still sad that he never got to do Shrek.

    3. +Jose Rodriguez
I’m sure that it counts 🙂 I can imagine him perfectly as Shrek, it like it
was written for him 🙂 Thnx for the info

    1. I don’t think so, but that other guy in star trek who just died recently
was motor biking or something and he fell off and it crushed him.

  4. I’m pretty sure Paul Walker just died because of a car crash, not during
    filming

    1. +lilow chicken (Emo duck queen) That’s not what this is. It means while in
the middle of making a movie, not literally filming.

  5. Everyone forgot the great John Candy ! He died during the filming of Wagons
    East.

    1. +Lauren Surber according to the ways things are going in the United States
      he just might be

  6. Don’t forget Andy Whitfield. He died of cancer after season 1 of Spatacus.
The production company made a 6 episode prequel to give them time to cast
another actor to play Spartacus for seasons 2 and 3.

    1. +Neo Franklin2 Yes, but he didn’t write “Spartacus.” He wrote
      “Spatacus.” I know my history.

    2. +Melissa Saar I just noticed his typo, that one is on me. Don’t know why
but i can’t help laughing at “Spatacus”

    3. +Neo Franklin2 My reaction exactly …but not in a mean way. It’s just a
fun word. Like “Sporadicus” in “Clueless.” You just gotta laugh.

    1. paul wasn’t drunk. he was in a car with his friend and his friend was drunk
and was also the one driving the car

    1. +LittleNoe Does Minecraft No Richard Harris was Dumbledore in Philosophers
Stone and in Chamber of Secrets, then when he died, Michael Gambon replaced
him in the Prisoner of Azkaban

    1. Lol oh duh, Walker. Well, I’m sure he’s racing in heaven with Paul Newman.

  7. Didn’t Heath Ledger die after The Dark Knight had been finished being
edited, but before they put it out into theaters?

    1. +Cami Sans Yes but he died during The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
      filming.

  8. To me, Philip Seymour Hoffman is the greatest loss in movie/film history.
He was so lovable, talented and he did so many different superb roles. All
these acters will be missed, but he was one of my al time favorites…

  9. What about Richard Harris, from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?

    1. +Yo Ninja richard harris died October 25 2002…Chamber of Secrets was
released in the UK Nov 3 2002 and the US Nov 15 2002….so unless they were
reshooting and /or finalizing a week before release, i think it is safe to
say that Harris doesnt merit being on this list
