Film production can be a dangerous business. As we discussed in our video about 9 Incredibly Hard To Shoot Movie Scenes, getting the perfect action shot can sometimes mean pulling off very risky stunts that have the potential to go disastrously wrong. Fortunately, most productions will have plenty of precautions and safeguards, so on-set deaths are rare. However, there are still some famous cases of actors who died while filming and others who died before they could finish their current projects.

Here are Screen Rant’s 10 Actors Who Died During A Movie’s Production.

  1. I miss paul…. I remember I cried alot when I found out he died in 2013…
but can’t believe that was 3 years ago

    • yes, River Phoenix was a great actor, died during production of Dark Blood,
but I believe Chris Farley wasn’t in any production at the moment of his
      death

    • +Aleksandra Boskova A lot of people don’t know this but Chris Farley died
while Shrek was in pre production. in fact they released a voice over
storyboard on YouTube. “Chris Farley as shrek lost footage found” Maybe it
still doesn’t count but its still sad that he never got to do Shrek.

    • +Jose Rodriguez
I’m sure that it counts 🙂 I can imagine him perfectly as Shrek, it like it
was written for him 🙂 Thnx for the info

    • I don’t think so, but that other guy in star trek who just died recently
was motor biking or something and he fell off and it crushed him.

  2. Don’t forget Andy Whitfield. He died of cancer after season 1 of Spatacus.
The production company made a 6 episode prequel to give them time to cast
another actor to play Spartacus for seasons 2 and 3.

    • +Neo Franklin2 Yes, but he didn’t write “Spartacus.” He wrote
      “Spatacus.” I know my history.

    • +Melissa Saar I just noticed his typo, that one is on me. Don’t know why
but i can’t help laughing at “Spatacus”

    • +Neo Franklin2 My reaction exactly …but not in a mean way. It’s just a
fun word. Like “Sporadicus” in “Clueless.” You just gotta laugh.

  3. Didn’t Heath Ledger die after The Dark Knight had been finished being
edited, but before they put it out into theaters?

  4. To me, Philip Seymour Hoffman is the greatest loss in movie/film history.
He was so lovable, talented and he did so many different superb roles. All
these acters will be missed, but he was one of my al time favorites…
